The Death of Print Newspapers?

Overall the internet is in fact leading print newspapers to a slow death. Why would someone waste their time reading a print newspaper when majority of their day is spent online and online newspapers are updated more frequently? Newspapers understand this movement, so what are they doing to conquer their slow death? They are shifting to online. The New York Times has already publicly announced they will at some point cease their print newspaper, see more here

One of the areas I have noticed that differs from print newspapers and online newspapers is the ability to cover more material. As I stated earlier they can update their information more frequently but it also offers a wider range of actually material. Why is this? Well, my guess would have to deal with money, when printing a newspaper you must pay for ink and paper, yes majority of it comes from advertisers however, even the amount of advertising the web offers you could have 5X as many advertisers within your website. So what it comes down to is price, it makes more sense to cover more news because it is not quite as expensive and you are competing now with newspapers worldwide, not just the one that lands on your front lawn.
