Has the new media outlets invited bloggers and viewers a weapon to dismantle our credible idols? I was shocked to read the amount of attacks that are circulating the web on anyone in the spotlight? As Howard Kurtz stated "a search-and-destroy culture has emerged that is as likely to vilify journalists as political and corporate leaders."
It is obviously apparent that the internet has in fact given citizens a license to dismantle any one they can get their hands on. However, like Kurtz stated after the creation of the television politicians quickly noticed they were being criticized at a higher element. Would it be logical to assume with any technological innovation there is bound to be some flames?
Kurtz discussed our new politics have created a "search-and-destroy culture" and this may be the result of that influence on the citizens. I believe this is not the case. No matter who is president or in the senate etc, there is bound to be a great deal of people unhappy, at this time in our history there more than just a great deal of people unhappy and I believe they are having no issue voicing it. It's difficult to differentiate whether this cyber war between bloggers and leaders is due to technological advances setting flames to our culture or is it opening a new realm for leaders and others to hear their feedback.
On another note it's interesting how the internet has granted so many people a voice. It used to be you had to fight and stand up and spend hours upon hours of endless effort to get your voice heard. The creation of the internet and new social medias are making that easier and easier, today all I had to do was open my computer, type and my voice is out in the open for millions to view it if they wished to. It makes me wonder what will be the next communicative technological advancement?
